You're in charge of when you sell and when you buy
Amber Electric operates on a unique model that gives customers direct access to the wholesale electricity market. Unlike traditional energy retailers who buy power on the wholesale market and then sell it to you at a fixed, marked-up rate, Amber passes on the real-time wholesale price directly to you. This price fluctuates every 30 minutes based on supply and demand in the National Energy Market.
This model allows you to take advantage of periods when electricity is cheap, such as when there is a surplus of solar and wind energy in the grid. You pay a simple monthly subscription fee to Amber, and in return, you get the opportunity to save money by shifting your energy-intensive activities to these low-price, “green” times. For those with solar panels and batteries, this also means you can earn a higher, real-time feed-in tariff when you export power back to the grid during periods of high demand and high prices.
